Great American Insurance Company has introduced a new Personal Contents program in New Mexico, filed under Inland Marine. The filing, submitted by Perr&Knight on June 6, 2025, and marked “File & Use With Review” on June 9, includes no impact on rates or existing policyholders.
The program enables individuals to purchase blanket or scheduled coverage for personal contents, either as a standalone policy or bundled. Policies are generally annual, but blanket coverage for tenants can be prorated daily to align with lease terms.
Rate development draws from American Modern’s 2014 New Mexico filing, with enhancements referencing QBE and Trisura for specific risk factors like claims history, residence type, and theft protection. Optional coverages—such as Identity Recovery, Cyber Protection, and Personal Electronics Coverage—are priced through Great American’s agreement with Hartford Steam Boiler.
Applicants applying through approved affinity partners who meet target property management standards will qualify for base rates, while those applying through other distribution channels will be subject to a surcharge as outlined in the rate pages.
Eligibility is limited to applicants with fewer than three theft-related claims in three years. Fees include a $25 policy fee, installment charges, and wind/hail deductibles starting at $1,000. Rating flexibility is built in, with adjustments for distribution channel, experience rating, and unique population segments.
