Great American Files Rate Hike for TX Commercial Auto

Great American submitted a rate and rule filing in Texas that introduces a 9.6% overall increase for its Non-Trucking Liability and Physical Damage program, effective June 1, 2026 for both new and renewal business.

The update affects 175 policyholders and reflects a written premium change of roughly $83.5k on $870k of premium.

The company is revising its physical damage rating algorithm, consolidating Collision and Special Perils deductible factors into a single factor and raising the base deductible from $1,000 to $2,500. While the base rate per $1,000 of coverage decreases from $63.23 to $56.65, changes to the broader rating structure drive the net +9.6% impact.

The filing relies on proprietary data along with Verisk VIN data, EASI ZIP code data, and NHTSA county-level pedestrian accident data.

Policyholders could see changes ranging from a 55.6% decrease to a 153.3% increase. The last rate revision for this program was a 15% increase in November 2021.
