Extend received approval in Alaska for two updated tire and wheel protection plans with an effective date of May 13, 2026. The filing was submitted on May 12, 2026, and covers service contracts for tires and wheels sold alongside passenger vehicles and motorcycles.
The plans cover tire and wheel repair or replacement resulting from road hazards such as potholes, nails, rocks, and debris. Coverage applies to passenger vehicles, motorcycles, vans, and trucks, while excluding commercial use cases such as ride share, delivery, towing, and construction vehicles.
Under the updated agreements, customers can file claims online or by phone through Extend. Approved claims may result in repair, replacement, reimbursement, store credit, or gift card settlements depending on product availability and plan structure. Some plan variations also include limited cosmetic wheel damage coverage and tire repair reimbursements.
The filing also outlines exclusions for damage tied to collisions, racing, improper inflation, off-road use, vandalism, cosmetic wear, manufacturer defects, and products with tread depth below 3/32”. Coverage limits are generally capped at the original purchase price of the covered product.
Extend’s obligations under the plans are backed by reimbursement insurance policies issued by ARI Insurance Company – part of AmTrust – in Alaska.
