Chubb Files New Leisure Travel Insurance Product in Texas

Chubb filed a new Individual Travel Protection product in Texas.

The filing introduces a new travel protection policy form, application, rate manual, and rating rules for individual travelers. According to the filing, the new product will be written on a file-and-use basis with a requested effective date of August 29, 2026. The corresponding policy forms were submitted in a separate filing.

The product offers a broad range of travel insurance benefits, including trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, missed connections, baggage loss and delay, emergency medical expenses, emergency and security evacuation, accidental death and dismemberment, search and rescue, car rental protection, vacation rental damage, pet care, itinerary change fees, and optional cancel-for-any-reason (CFAR) coverage. Premiums are determined using factors such as trip cost, traveler age, destination, trip length, booking window, departure month, distribution channel, and selected benefit levels.

The filing also differentiates pricing by distribution channel, assigning the lowest rating factor to embedded airline (0.80) and embedded travel (0.85) programs, followed by affinity (0.90) and packaged travel (0.95), while retail travel serves as the baseline (1.00), with higher factors for luxury retail (1.05), expedition (1.10), and private distribution (1.15).

Because the filing is for a new product, it has a 0% rate impact and is not expected to affect any existing policyholders or written premium.
