Chubb is updating its Kansas Businessowners program to add a $485 minimum premium for contractor classes written on a monoline general liability basis.
The filing applies to ACE Fire Underwriters, ACE Property and Casualty, and Pacific Employers, with a requested effective date of June 26, 2026, for new and renewal business.
The move has limited overall impact. ACE Property and Casualty shows a 0.1% rate impact, affecting 22 policyholders and adding about $3,110 in written premium. The filing also shows a maximum individual increase of 94%, though the dollar impact is capped at $235.
The business logic is simple: small contractor GL policies are not generating enough premium to cover fixed expenses. Chubb’s support shows an indicated minimum premium of $970, but the company selected $485.
