General Insurance Company of America, a Liberty Mutual Insurance Group insurer, has received approval to stop writing and marketing its Insurance Professionals Errors and Omissions Liability program in South Dakota, effective November 24, 2026.
The claims-made program, also known as insurance agents and brokers E&O, no longer fits the carrier’s underwriting criteria, long-term product strategy or profitability objectives, according to the filing. The company cited profitability concerns and claim severity.
The exit affects three in-force policies representing about $12,265 in direct written premium. General Insurance reported no associated claims and estimated its market share at less than 1%.
The carrier will provide the required advance nonrenewal notices and continue servicing claims and any applicable extended reporting-period obligations. The filing applies only to this program; it is not a withdrawal from South Dakota or a broader exit from other liability business.
