Homesite Insurance Company of Georgia, part of the American Family, has filed notice with the Georgia Department of Insurance announcing the retirement of its nonstandard private passenger auto program in the state. The filing, submitted on October 22, 2025, outlines plans to discontinue issuing and renewing all car insurance policies currently administered by The General Automobile Insurance Services of Georgia. As of October 3, 2025, the filing indicates that 940 policyholders, representing $14.3 million in written premium, will be affected by the transition.
According to the filing, all active Homesite policies with terms ending on or after the program’s withdrawal date will be non-renewed. Impacted policyholders will be offered a new auto policy through The General, underwritten by Permanent General Assurance Corporation of Ohio, featuring equivalent coverage options and potentially lower rates. Homesite has mailed separate notices to both agents and policyholders and filed a formal transition plan with regulators.
The filing specifies that affected customers must contact The General before their policy expiration to maintain uninterrupted coverage.
The move marks the end of Homesite’s Georgia nonstandard auto business, consolidating operations under The General’s platform.
