Amica Life Insurance Company filed in New Mexico to introduce a complimentary value-added service providing beneficiaries access to the Empathy platform, which offers post-loss support such as grief resources, probate guidance, and identity theft prevention. The service was designed for beneficiaries of Amica’s 10-Year Level Term policies at no additional cost to policyholders.

The filing, which detailed the complimentary benefit and referenced an example policy with a $400,000 face amount, was rejected by regulators. Amica stated that the service costs are fully absorbed by the company and not included in policy premiums.
