Allstate has updated the rules for its Mississippi homeowners policies to make it easier for some customers to qualify for a new-customer discount and to clarify how roofs and past claims are treated when a policy is priced.
The biggest change affects Allstate’s “welcome” discount. Homeowners who switched into an Allstate North American Insurance Company policy before June 28, 2025 will now be treated as new customers for discount purposes, even if they moved between Allstate companies. That means more policyholders may qualify for lower premiums when they first take out a policy or renew it.
Allstate also clarified how it evaluates the condition of a home’s roof. The company uses aerial images to assess roof condition and assigns a score that affects pricing. That score generally stays the same at renewal unless Allstate decides to update it, such as when new imagery becomes available.
Finally, the insurer cleaned up the language around its claim forgiveness program. In plain terms, certain qualifying claims will not cause a customer to lose discounts or face a surcharge, depending on how long they have been insured with Allstate and whether they purchased optional claim forgiveness coverage.
The changes take effect for new policies starting March 6, 2026, and for renewals beginning April 15, 2026. No rate increases or decreases were included in the filing.
