Allstate introduced a new endorsement to its Florida personal auto program, expanding coverage to include trailers, travel trailers, and camper units under the auto policy.
The filing, submitted April 7, 2026, is form-only and does not include rate changes. It primarily updates the “Protection Against Loss to the Vehicle” section to clarify how claims are handled for both owned and non-owned vehicles, including substitute vehicles.
The new trailer endorsement narrows coverage to collision and comprehensive for eligible trailer-type risks while removing certain elements such as custom equipment coverage. It also expands the definition of personal effects to include items stored on a campground or patio associated with the insured unit, reflecting real-world usage of these vehicles.
At the same time, the endorsement introduces more detailed exclusions specific to trailers and camper units. These include losses tied to poor maintenance, failure to address prior damage, improper storage or winterization, infestations, and use as a primary residence or for business purposes.
Beyond the endorsement, the base policy continues to include modest ancillary benefits such as limited coverage for personal effects, pets, re-keying costs after theft, and fire department service charges.
Bottom Line: Allstate is extending its auto product to better capture trailer-related exposures while tightening underwriting around maintenance, usage, and loss scenarios—aligning coverage with how these assets are actually used without introducing pricing changes.
