American Economy Insurance Company, part of Safeco, has filed to launch a new Dwelling Fire program in Alabama, effective September 20, 2025, for new business.

The program is designed for landlords and includes coverages such as On-Premises Theft, Liability Extended to Others, and Personal Offense Coverage. Premiums are segmented by perils including windstorm/hail, hurricane, and all other perils, with discounts, surcharges, and installment fees applied. A Landlord Policy Declarations form (LL-8010/EP) is included in the filing.

The Alabama Department of Insurance required removal of monthly trend factors from rating and emphasized model approval before rate filings. The program also enforces strict insured duties, including prompt notice of risk changes and sworn proof of loss with supporting documents such as rental agreements.
