ManhattanLife Introduces Home Health Care Indemnity Product In Oregon

ManhattanLife is introducing a new individual home health care product in Oregon, combining fixed indemnity benefits for in-home services with limited prescription drug coverage.

The filing, submitted April 9, 2026, outlines a new product called HHC Enhancement, replacing previously closed forms and positioned as a guaranteed renewable policy for individuals ages 18 to 89. Coverage is sold through licensed agents and structured as a fixed benefit plan, meaning payouts are based on preset amounts rather than actual medical expenses.

The policy focuses on home-based care, offering daily benefits for services such as nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, and home health aide support. Benefits are triggered when an insured is unable to perform at least two activities of daily living or requires supervision due to cognitive impairment.

Daily benefit options vary by service, with aggregate caps and a maximum benefit period of 365 days. Homemaker services are also included, with separate daily limits and lifetime caps, and eligibility tied to functional or cognitive impairment.

The product includes a prescription drug component with fixed per-prescription payments and annual caps, alongside standard exclusions for non-FDA approved drugs, supplements, and certain high-risk categories.

As a fixed indemnity policy, the product is positioned as supplemental coverage rather than comprehensive health insurance. It explicitly excludes long-term care coverage and does not reimburse actual provider charges, instead paying scheduled benefits regardless of incurred costs.
