CGA SC Provider Services, Inc. is rolling out a tiered vehicle service contract lineup in Nevada, built around Platinum, Gold, and PT plans with multiple upgrade levels.
The product, administered by CarGuard Administration, is positioned as a warranty alternative and kicks in after a 30-day and 1,000-mile waiting period, with coverage tied to mechanical breakdowns rather than wear and tear.
At the top end, Platinum coverage is broad, effectively covering most vehicle components unless explicitly excluded, while lower tiers narrow protection and increase limitations.
The structure is tightly controlled. Claims require prior authorization, repairs must be done at approved facilities, and payouts are capped at the greater of the vehicle’s trade-in value or $12,500, limiting exposure on older or high-mileage vehicles.
There is heavy reliance on exclusions to manage risk. The contracts carve out wear and tear, pre-existing issues, aftermarket modifications, commercial use without surcharge, and a long list of components like brakes, batteries, electronics, and cosmetic parts.
Upsell options play a key role. Coverage for commercial use, hybrids, lift kits, or snow plows is only included if explicitly selected and priced, turning risk segmentation into a revenue lever.
The product also bundles benefits like roadside assistance, rental reimbursement, and trip interruption, positioning it closer to a packaged ownership solution rather than pure repair coverage.
