Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Peerless Insurance Company have filed changes in Texas to introduce an optional Plumbing and Appliance Water Damage Deductible for homeowners policies. The changes are requested to take effect June 22, 2026, for new business and July 27, 2026, for renewals.
The new deductible applies to losses caused by non weather related water damage under the property coverage section of the policy. The deductible must be equal to or greater than the policy’s base deductible and does not apply when weather contributes to the loss.
The filing is rate neutral, with no overall premium impact. The changes affect a relatively small Liberty Mutual book and a larger Peerless portfolio within the state.
