American Economy Insurance Company, part of the Liberty Mutual Group, submitted a filing in Virginia on October 8, 2025, introducing a Limited Ridesharing Coverage endorsement for its Personal Auto program. The update, effective February 21, 2026, applies to policies covering private passenger autos, recreational vehicles, and classic or antique automobiles.

The new endorsement (Form SA-3043/VAEP) provides coverage for drivers logged into a transportation network platform but who have not yet accepted a ride request and are not transporting passengers. During this period, liability coverage is considered primary, and the endorsement also amends medical payments, physical damage, and optional coverages such as medical expense and income loss benefits.
