Grange Introduces TrueCover Auto

Grange Insurance is introducing TrueCover Auto, a new personal auto program scheduled to launch in Illinois on March 30, 2027.

The program will be written by Grange Indemnity Insurance Company and offered only to new customers. When it launches, Grange will stop writing new business through its Pinpoint Auto 3 program, which is underwritten by Trustgard Insurance Company. Existing Pinpoint customers will remain in that program and will not automatically move to TrueCover.

TrueCover uses several data points for pricing, including insurance and utility scores, prior-carrier activity, vehicle title and damage history, and mileage derived from third-party odometer records. Grange may also use driving data from connected vehicles to produce a point-of-sale telematics score.

The program offers three coverage packages: Auto Base, Auto Boost and Auto Advanced. Boost costs about 3.5% more than Base, while Advanced adds about 12.8%. The higher tiers include features such as minor-violation forgiveness, with Advanced also providing immediate accident forgiveness.

Optional coverages include pet injury, rideshare and delivery gap coverage, OEM parts, key replacement, mobile-device protection, identity theft, new-car replacement, total-loss upgrades and three levels of roadside assistance. Pet injury coverage pays up to $1,000 when a customer’s cat or dog is injured or killed in a covered accident.

Policies will be available with six- or 12-month terms. The Illinois Department of Insurance accepted the rate and rule filing on August 12.
