Grange Files Confidential Telematics Scoring Model for Tennessee Auto

Grange Indemnity Insurance Company has submitted a confidential rate filing in Tennessee seeking approval to utilize a proprietary scoring model tied to a forthcoming personal auto program branded TrueCover. The filing was submitted on January 14, 2026.

The filing requests authorization to deploy a new risk-ranking model powered by telematics data, but stops short of implementing the model directly into a rating plan. Grange notes that the scoring output will not be used for pricing until a separate TrueCover program filing is formally submitted.

The model relies on telematics driving attributes collected from GPS-enabled devices with consumer consent and is designed to assess relative risk based on driving behavior rather than traditional rating variables. The scoring technology is provided by LexisNexis Risk Solutions through its Drive Metrics product.

New business under the proposed framework is slated to take effect March 30, 2027.
