American Select Insurance Company, part of Westfield Companies, is updating its Michigan homeowners program with a change to how insurance scores are handled at renewal.
The update removes the automatic reordering of insurance scores that previously occurred every five years. Instead, the company is pausing these updates to limit premium disruption across its existing book.
Insurance scores will still be used in underwriting and rating. They will continue to be ordered at new business, and agents can reorder scores at renewal or upon request within existing guidelines.
The change does not affect the underlying rating plan or scoring methodology. It is an operational adjustment aimed at stabilizing pricing for current policyholders.
The update applies to the company’s homeowners programs and takes effect September 1, 2026 for renewals in Michigan.
