Old Guard Brings Pillar 2.0 Personal Lines to Tennessee

Old Guard Insurance Company, part of Westfield, is rolling out its Pillar 2.0 personal lines program in Tennessee. The program spans homeowners, boat, and inland marine coverage, with newly approved manuals and rates.

The filing was submitted on June 20, 2025, approved on July 25, 2025, and takes effect for new business on September 25, 2025.

Regulators raised questions during the review process around competitor references, actuarial justification, and the treatment of applicants with no credit history. Old Guard clarified that its factors align with those previously approved for American Select Insurance Company and withdrew duplicative boat filings in response to objections.

The Tennessee launch adds another state to Westfield’s personal lines footprint, which already includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and several others.

Across its other filed entities, Westfield collectively reached 10,005 policyholders under the Homeowners Sub-TOI Combinations category—7,822 with American Select, 1,753 with Westfield National, and 430 with Westfield Insurance Company. Homeowners Sub-TOI Combinations refers to a package policy that combines real and personal property coverage with personal liability, typically including protection for the dwelling, appurtenant structures, unscheduled personal property, and additional living expenses, with coverage extending to mobile homes at a fixed location.
