Gateway Introduces Florida Personal Auto Program

Gateway Insurance introduced a new Florida private passenger auto program branded as “Orange Auto,” with a proposed effective date of July 15, 2026, for new and renewal business. The filing was submitted as a “me-too” program using previously approved forms with minor modifications, while rates and rules are being filed separately.

The program will be serviced and underwritten by Orange Underwriters, LLC, a Miami-based managing general agency. Policy forms include updated language around telematics, claims reporting requirements, exclusions tied to delivery services and transportation network companies, and restrictions on post-loss windshield assignment agreements.

Under the policy, insureds are required to report accidents, losses, or lawsuits within 24 hours or as soon as reasonably practicable, while claims involving windshield or auto glass damage must generally be reported within 72 hours. The filing also states that assignments of post-loss benefits for auto glass repair or replacement are void and unenforceable under Florida law.

The policy excludes coverage for ridesharing, delivery activity, and personal vehicle sharing programs during active app usage periods. It also includes detailed provisions related to telematics data, event data recorders, GPS information, and other connected vehicle technologies that may be used during claims investigations.
