People’s Trust Seeks 4.4% Cut to Florida Auto Rates

People’s Trust Insurance Company has filed changes to its Florida private passenger auto program that would reduce overall rates by 4.4%, with new business changes effective May 5, 2026, and renewal changes effective June 23, 2026. The insurer writes the business through its partnership with Loyalty MGA, which manages the admitted Florida auto program.

The filing includes a 30.8% decrease for collision coverage, a 3% decrease for personal injury protection (PIP), and a 2.0% decrease for property damage coverage. These reductions are partially offset by a 45.3% increase for comprehensive coverage, driven primarily by reinsurance costs and modeled hurricane exposure, along with a 0.3% increase for bodily injury coverage.

People’s Trust said the comprehensive indication was heavily influenced by reinsurance expenses, with the filing noting that the estimated net cost of reinsurance equals 63.29% of on-level comprehensive premium. The insurer, best known for homeowners insurance in Florida, launched its auto program in 2019 through an MGA partnership.
