Accredited Exits Attune BOP Program

Accredited Surety and Casualty Company is shutting down its Businessowners program written through Attune and will nonrenew the entire book starting August 1, 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

The move affects about 1,960 policies and $7.8 million in premium in California, with runoff expected over 12 to 18 months.

The decision stems from Attune’s move to transfer the business to a Fortegra carrier. The transition will occur without re underwriting, and Attune will contact policyholders with replacement coverage options.

Accredited will continue servicing policies through expiration, including claims, billing, and customer support. The company said the change reflects a strategic shift and not policyholder risk performance.

Bottom Line: The California book of business for the Attune Businessowners program is one of the largest represented in the regulatory filings, trailing only Texas and New Jersey in direct written premium.
