InsureMax Updates Florida Renters Program Ahead Of May Launch

InsureMax, part of AssuranceAmerica, is introducing updates to its renters insurance program in Florida, with revised forms tied to a previously approved rate and rule filing.

The filing, submitted on April 6, 2026 under prior approval, reflects changes to the policy, declaration page, and notice to policyholders, with a new business effective date of May 7, 2026.

The most notable update is the expansion of hurricane deductible options. Policyholders can now choose from $500, 2%, 5%, or 10% deductibles, replacing the prior structure that only offered $500 and $1,000 options.

Coverage terms were also adjusted. The limit for Coverage D, which covers loss of use, has been reduced from 20% to 10% of the Coverage C personal property limit, aligning with a comparable program previously approved for another carrier.

On the declaration page, the updated structure reflects the lower loss of use limit and introduces additional charges, including an EMPA surcharge and an installment setup fee, both tied to the earlier rate filing.

The program continues to offer standard renters coverage, including personal property protection, liability coverage, and additional living expenses, alongside optional endorsements such as water backup and pet damage.

The filing also notes a Flesch readability score of 45.2 for the policy and endorsements, indicating moderately complex language typical of insurance contracts.
