Catawba Insurance Company, part of AssuranceAmerica, has filed initial forms in Florida for a new Commercial Auto program, marking a formal expansion into one of the most competitive and loss-sensitive auto markets in the country. The filing was submitted January 16, 2026, under prior approval, with new business proposed to begin February 16, 2026. Rates and rules will be filed separately.
The program mirrors Catawba’s existing commercial auto offerings in states such as Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina, but is adapted for Florida-specific requirements including Personal Injury Protection, Uninsured Motorist coverage, and state-mandated cancellation rules. The structure signals a deliberate, controlled rollout rather than an aggressive market grab.
At its core, the program is designed for traditional small commercial auto risks, not gig economy, delivery platforms, or high-severity trucking. Coverage is built around a conventional liability and physical damage framework, with optional endorsements for hired and non-owned autos, drive-other-car exposure, rental reimbursement, towing and labor, and limited personal use of company vehicles.
