Great West Files Workers’ Comp Rate Decrease in New Mexico

Great West Casualty Company, part of the Old Republic Insurance Group, has filed for a 7.7% overall rate decrease for its Workers’ Compensation program in New Mexico. The filing, signed near October 30, 2025, takes effect on January 1, 2026, for both new and renewal business.a

The change impacts 34 policyholders and $1.05 million in written premium, resulting in an estimated $81,198 reduction in total premium. The adjustment reflects the company’s adoption of updated NCCI loss costs and actuarial support for reduced claim frequency and severity trends.

This marks the third consecutive rate decrease for Great West in the state, following reductions of 5% and 4.2% in 2024. The current filing shows an indicated change of -9.1%, with individual policy impacts ranging from -6.1% to -22.0%, underscoring continued favorable loss experience within the trucking-focused book of business.
