GM National Insurance Company is raising Indiana auto rates by 8% overall as its policyholder count continues to grow.
Its October 2026 filing lists 3,473 policyholders, up from 1,461 in a May 2025 filing—a 138% increase. The program launched in April 2024 and reported 2,160 policies in force as of November 30, 2025.
The latest increase follows a 7.7% increase filed earlier this year. Individual impacts range from a 19% decrease to a 48.7% increase, with approximately $2.9 million in written premium affected. GM selected the 8% increase despite an actuarial indication of 12.5%.
GM is also reducing the pricing differences tied to credit scores for several coverages. Its original pricing structure drew on an Allstate program, but GM uses Verisk’s Inflection model because it could not adopt Allstate’s proprietary model. Customers with limited or no matching credit information will receive a factor based on the average policyholder score.
Other changes correct out-of-state territory factors omitted when GM adopted Progressive’s territory pricing approach and introduce an early shopper discount.
Indiana regulators required the discount to begin at least two calendar days before coverage starts, saying a shorter window would effectively make it a prohibited new-business inducement. GM revised the discount accordingly.
The filing was submitted October 9 and marked filed October 15. The changes take effect October 19, 2026 for new business and December 3 for renewals.
