Auto-Owners Proposes Commercial Auto Rate Increase in Virginia

Auto-Owners Insurance Company has filed for Commercial Automobile rate and rule revisions in Virginia, seeking an overall +2.3% rate increase effective February 17, 2026, for both new and renewal business. The filing affects approximately 3,164 policyholders and represents an additional $531,876 in written premium on a current book of $23.4 million.

The filing includes multiple updates: adjustments to base rates, class relativities, and limit relativities; removal of the Driver Training Auto class and Mobile Equipment – Seasonal Use factor; addition of $10,000+ deductibles for collision and comprehensive coverage; and modifications to paid-in-full and Hired Autos Base Rate factors.

The revision aligns with ISO standards and continues to support the company’s use of a Fleet Monitoring Discount. Filed under the File and Use method, rate changes range from +20.5% to -19.7%.

A minor correction was required during review to update the COF-1 Rate Certification Form, which has since been resolved. The previous rate change for this program was a +6.9% increase, effective January 3, 2025.
