Trusted Resource Underwriters Exchange of Ohio has filed underwriting guidelines for a new HO-3 homeowners program in Connecticut, with a proposed November 1, 2026 effective date. The reciprocal received its Connecticut certificate of authority in December 2025 and says it intends to write throughout the state, including coastal areas, primarily through direct-to-consumer distribution.
With no existing Connecticut homeowners book to use as a starting point, TRUE says its proposed rating plan is largely modeled on Homesite Insurance Company’s approved Homeowners Program II. The filing covers owner-occupied homes with Coverage A limits from $250,000 to $3 million at the point of sale.
TRUE says it will use CAPE Analytics’ Roof Condition Rating for pricing, but not to determine underwriting eligibility. The guidelines separately make new business ineligible if the primary roof covering has not been replaced within 25 years, among other conditions.
Bottom Line: TRUE is seeking to enter Connecticut with statewide homeowners coverage, including coastal risks, using an existing carrier’s approved program as the basis for its rating plan.
