Selective Insurance Company of South Carolina has introduced a new personal auto endorsement in Wisconsin that offers risk control and loss mitigation services at no additional cost to policyholders.
Filed on July 15, 2025, and approved the same day under Wisconsin’s “file and use” provisions, the endorsement (Form MISC 1871) becomes effective August 14, 2025, with a formal rollout for new and renewal policies starting November 13, 2025.
The endorsement allows Selective to provide or coordinate risk mitigation tools through approved vendors, aiming to reduce incidents that could lead to injury or property damage. The filing emphasizes that access to these services does not affect premium pricing.
“Selective Insurance Company of South Carolina is introducing risk control and loss mitigation products and services which are intended to assist an insured to more effectively manage personal risk by encouraging proactive measures toward prevention or mitigation of instances that could lead to bodily injury or property damage. One or more of such products and services may be offered to the insured by us or by approved third parties at either no or reduced cost. There is no premium charge applicable to the policy resulting from the insured’s utilization or non-utilization of such risk control and loss mitigation products and services.”
While the filing does not disclose program size or policyholder impact, the move aligns with broader industry efforts to reduce losses through prevention rather than claims settlement. It applies to both personal auto (PP 00 01) and homeowners forms (HO 00 03, 04, 05, and 06).
