Mercury Reports Georgia Homeowners Non-Renewals

Mercury submitted its Q1 2026 residential property cancellation and non-renewal report in Georgia, covering activity through March 31, 2026.

The filing shows 114 policies impacted during the quarter, including 91 non-renewals and 23 cancellations. Most non-renewals were attributed to underwriting decisions, while a significant portion stemmed from distribution changes, specifically cases where the producer no longer represents the company.

Cancellations were largely tied to property-related concerns, classified under “undesirable property,” suggesting risk quality issues rather than policyholder behavior. A smaller number of actions were linked to insured-related factors or unspecified underwriting reasons.

The data highlights two clear drivers behind portfolio movement: tightening underwriting standards and shifts in agency relationships. Together, these factors continue to shape how carriers manage homeowners exposure in Georgia.
