Homesite Raises Wisconsin Homeowners Rates By 7.1%

Homesite submitted a homeowners rate filing in Wisconsin that increases rates by 7.1% for its HO3 owner occupied homeowners program.

The filing was submitted and filed on March 9, 2026 under Wisconsin’s use and file system. The new rates take effect March 14, 2026 for new business and May 21, 2026 for renewals.

Homesite said the selected increase is below its 12% indicated need. The filing affects 77,846 policyholders  with $112.7 million and is expected to increase written premium by about $7.95 million.

The company’s prior Wisconsin homeowners rate revision was a 4.9% increase that took effect on October 11, 2025.

The biggest pressure points in the filing come from weather and water related losses. Homesite’s actuarial exhibits show indicated changes of 46.6% for wind, 24.8% for hail, and 52.1% for water backup, though the company selected lower changes of 26% for wind, 13.5% for hail, and 27% for water backup. By contrast, Homesite selected no change for water weather and water non weather, despite indicated changes of negative 3.9% and negative 5.8%, respectively.

Fire and other non weather perils saw more modest selected increases. Homesite selected 2.5% for fire, 2% for all other perils, and 2.4% for fixed expense.

Overall, the filing points to continued pressure from Wisconsin homeowners weather exposure, especially wind, hail, and water backup, while Homesite again chose to take less than its full indicated increase.
