Essentia has filed updates to its Enthusiast Automobile Program in Florida, introducing rate changes and revised underwriting guidelines for collector and specialty vehicles. The program is administered by Hagerty Insurance Agency, and the updates will apply to new business starting May 15, 2026 and renewals beginning June 15, 2026.
The program covers classic cars, modified vehicles, collector motorcycles, and vehicles under construction, with optional endorsements such as spare parts coverage, custom features, Motorsports Advantage, and Cherished Salvage protection.
The filing includes an overall rate increase of about 6.5%. Liability rates increase by roughly 20.9%, collision decreases by about 6.9%, and other-than-collision coverage remains largely unchanged. As a result, in-force premium is expected to rise from about $63.9 million to roughly $68 million. The company also added a vehicle type factor to the liability rating structure.
Additional changes include updated deductible factors, revised limit factors across several coverages, and expanded underwriting guidelines. The company clarified eligibility rules, added security requirements for custom cruiser motorcycles and custom import vehicles, and introduced new ineligible risk criteria such as vehicles with obstructed views or certain driveway storage situations for vehicles valued above $50,000.
High-value vehicles and collections will face stricter underwriting. Vehicles or collections valued at $500,000 or more will require enhanced review, including considerations related to flood risk, storm surge, wildfire exposure, and local protection class and crime index ratings. Additional requirements apply to collections exceeding $5 million.
The filing also updates discount rules, clarifying that only the highest qualifying security or safety discount applies. The list of eligible mass marketing programs was expanded to include the International Amphicar Owners Club.
