CNA Updates EPLI Rating Approach In Connecticut

CNA filed a premium-neutral update to its Employment Practices Liability Solutions Program in Connecticut, introducing a standardized rating structure and algorithm to replace the current individualized “(a) rating” approach. The changes take effect April 15, 2026, for new business and May 15, 2026, for renewals.

The filing impacts six policyholders representing $370,397 in written premium. While the overall rate impact is 0.0%, the update formalizes pricing through a consistent methodology primarily driven by employee headcount and industry classification, replacing discretionary underwriting adjustments.

CNA noted that Connecticut experience is not actuarially credible due to the small policy count, and the Northeast region shows a loss indication of 83.9% despite the neutral request. The filing checklist confirms no use of artificial intelligence or machine learning in risk selection or tiering.

The company’s prior revision for the program was also rate neutral, effective May 1, 2006.
