Central Insurance Enters Rhode Island BOP Market

Central Insurance and its affiliate All America Insurance Company have filed to introduce a new Businessowners (BOP) program in Rhode Island, with an effective date of October 1, 2026, marking the group’s entry into the state’s commercial package market.

The new ISO-based program targets small businesses across offices, retail, wholesale, service businesses, lessors’ risks, and selected contractors. Eligibility is generally capped at buildings of up to 35,000 square feet, $6 million in annual gross sales per location, and $30 million per policy. Contractors face additional underwriting requirements, including a $1 million payroll cap, no work above three stories, limits on subcontracted work, and exclusions for general contractors, heavy construction, demolition, excavation, swimming pools, tree services, and other higher-risk operations.

The filing establishes minimum premiums of $550 for most businesses and $625 for contractors.

Coverage options include Property Plus, Liability Plus, Cyber Suite, Employment Practices Liability, Equipment Breakdown, contractors’ tools and equipment, employee benefits liability, and unmanned aircraft liability. The Cyber Suite offers limits ranging from $25,000 to $250,000 and combines first-party cyber, third-party liability, cyber extortion, and identity recovery coverage, while EPLI and other endorsements are available as optional add-ons.
