Zurich has filed to introduce a new commercial surety program in Hawaii through Zurich American Insurance Company and American Zurich Insurance Company.
The countrywide program includes a new set of rates and rules covering commercial surety bonds. Zurich said the base rates are equivalent to those developed by Ace American Insurance Company and that the program is intended to improve operational efficiency for the company, customers and producers.
The filing has no impact on existing policyholders and carries a proposed effective date of November 1, 2026.
Hawaii regulators have placed the filing in abeyance while requesting additional actuarial support, including an explanation of the proposed 4.3% profit provision.
Similar filings were submitted in other states, including Connecticut.
