TruStage Files Payment Guard Advantage Income Protection Product in California

CUMIS Insurance Society, part of  TruStage, has submitted a new insurance program called Payment Guard Advantage in California that provides lump sum payments to consumers who experience either total disability or involuntary job loss. The coverage is designed to help policyholders meet financial obligations when their income is interrupted due to these events.

The policy is issued on an individual basis and is renewable annually. Benefits are paid as a lump sum once per policy term for job loss and once for total disability, subject to waiting periods, exclusions, and a lifetime aggregate maximum benefit.

Coverage is primarily distributed directly to consumers through digital marketing and affiliate partners, with electronic applications and e signature processing. Future distribution may also include sales through appointed agents.

Under the program structure, coverage begins after application approval, premium payment, and completion of a waiting period. The insurer may cancel coverage with advance notice prior to renewal, while policyholders may cancel at any time.

The product is being introduced as a new program with no existing policyholders affected at launch.

Payment Guard Advantage combines disability and unemployment protection within a single policy framework, positioning the product as a financial protection tool for individuals seeking coverage against sudden income disruption.
