Permanent General Assurance Corporation (The General) filed in Connecticut to introduce a proprietary vehicle symbol model as part of its upcoming Model Product 3.9 launch. Historically, The General has relied on ISO symbols, but the new system is built using data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Loss Data Institute (HLDI) and internal company data.
The filing is positioned as a groundwork step—rate and rule filings with underwriting rules and rating factors will follow. The company requested the documents be marked proprietary and confidential, underscoring its intent to segment risk more accurately across its private passenger auto business.
