The General is closing one of its Kentucky personal auto products to new customers while raising rates for existing policyholders.
Permanent General Assurance Corporation of Ohio’s filing states that the product will enter run-off on November 24, 2026, meaning it will remain available for renewals only.
“This active product will go into run-off and will be available for Renewal Business only effective 11/24/2026.”
The filing raises rates by 7.8% overall, compared with an actuarially indicated increase of 9.1%. It lists 2,592 affected policyholders and approximately $6.3 million in written premium, with an estimated premium increase of $489,289.
Kentucky regulators acknowledged the filing on October 14. The change applies to this specific product; the filing does not establish that The General is leaving Kentucky’s auto insurance market.
