Lemonade is expanding its footprint with the launch of a renters insurance program in Kansas, marking the company’s first entry into the state’s tenant homeowners market.
The filing, submitted by Metromile Insurance Company, introduces Lemonade’s “Renters Remix” product, with a requested effective date of May 5, 2026. The program combines new forms, rating, and underwriting components tailored to the Kansas market while leveraging the company’s broader national infrastructure.
At its core, the product reflects Lemonade’s standardized approach to renters insurance. The filing includes proprietary policy forms designed with simplified language and structure, along with pricing built on a generalized linear model and a census tract-based territorial framework.

Coverage follows a familiar renters structure, including protection for personal property, liability, loss of use, and medical payments. The program also offers a range of optional endorsements such as earthquake coverage, water backup, pet damage, and equipment breakdown, alongside more niche add-ons like bed bug and refrigerated property coverage.
From an underwriting perspective, the application flow incorporates lifestyle and property-level inputs, including building type, safety features, pets, and occupancy details, aligning with Lemonade’s digital-first quoting experience.
