Infinity Select Insurance Company, part of the Kemper group, is withdrawing its Classic Collector auto insurance program in California, effective September 14, 2024. The filing, submitted on June 24, 2024, and acknowledged by the California Department of Insurance on August 28, 2024, confirms that:
-
No Replacement or Transfer: The company agreed not to renew Classic Collector policies into any similar program offered by affiliated entities in California.
-
3-Year Freeze: Infinity Select also committed to not filing a replacement program for at least three years from the effective withdrawal date.
-
Program Closure: With the discontinuation of this program, Infinity Select confirmed it has no remaining personal auto insurance programs in California.
This regulatory outcome aligns with California Insurance Code provisions and was coordinated through a series of correspondence and objection responses with the California Department of Insurance.
“And as we have previously indicated, we do not expect these actions to disrupt the market. The policy count for the Classic Car program is very small, approximately 460 policies. And if customers are not happy with the broader coverage that will be offered to them, there are many companies through which customers can acquire classic car insurance in California including, market leaders like Progressive and Geico and classic car specialist, Hagerty.”
