Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company has filed a new Small Business Liability program in Rhode Island, effective October 1, 2025, for new business only.

The ISO-based product is tailored to small businesses and offers Commercial General Liability coverage with incidental business personal property available by endorsement. Defense costs are covered in addition to policy limits, and the company will not retain minimum premiums when calculating return premium.

BHSI is adopting ISO loss costs (GL-2024-BGL1) along with related factors and potentials but will not automatically adopt future ISO revisions. The filing repeatedly notes “no rate impact,” reflecting reliance on ISO loss costs rather than company-specific rate indications.
