XL Specialty Insurance Company, part of AXA Group, has officially withdrawn its Personal Automobile Insurance business in South Carolina. The decision, effective October 10, 2023, impacts 36 policyholders with a combined written premium of $26,895.

The withdrawal follows the termination of XL Specialty’s program manager agreement with Leland-West Insurance Brokers, who had administered the classic car insurance program. The exit reflects broader strategic shifts at AXA XL to consolidate underwriting resources and focus exclusively on commercial lines across the U.S.

While all in-force policies will remain active through their expiration dates, nonrenewal notices began rolling out in October 2023. XL Specialty confirmed that it would re-file if it ever re-enters the personal auto market and has committed to full compliance with all applicable nonrenewal statutes.
