USAA has filed an update in Washington to expand who qualifies as a subscriber member of the USAA reciprocal. The filing was submitted on January 12, 2026, with an effective date of June 22, 2027 for both new and renewal business.
The change introduces a new Subscriber Member Endorsement, broadening eligibility to include tenured enlisted members. According to the filing, the move is intended to extend benefits to a wider segment of veterans while recognizing long-term service and loyalty.
As part of the endorsement, subscribers are required to appoint an attorney-in-fact to act on behalf of the USAA reciprocal, a standard governance mechanism for reciprocal insurance exchanges.
USAA noted that the update follows a strategic review by senior leadership and coincides with changes to the company’s bylaws.
A similar filing was submitted in Connecticut.
