Starr Introduces Leisure Travel Insurance Offering in Massachusetts

Starr introduced a new travel insurance product in Massachusetts called Leisure Travel, according to a filing that was placed on file by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance on June 22, 2026.

The new program is designed to cover a range of travel-related risks, including trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delays, baggage and personal effects, emergency medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, repatriation of remains, and pet kennel delays.

The product also includes optional Trip Cancellation for Any Reason (CFAR) and Interruption for Any Reason (IFAR) benefits, which reimburse up to 75% of eligible non-refundable trip costs when certain conditions are met.

According to the filing, the travel insurance program will be distributed through multiple channels, including travel agents, online direct-to-consumer platforms, travel suppliers, and tour operators.

The filing consists of a new travel insurance policy form and a schedule of benefits and does not replace any existing forms on file in Massachusetts.
