Redwood Fire and Casualty Insurance Company, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, received approval from Hawaii regulators for a workers’ compensation consent-to-rate filing covering SpeediShuttle LLC, an airport shuttle operator.

The approved filing raises the annual premium to $458,782 from the filed manual premium of $366,989, an increase of approximately 25%.

According to the consent-to-rate form, the insurer cited “unusual hazards involved” as the reason for the surcharge. Redwood noted that SpeediShuttle’s “recent shift to large contract predominately at an airport creates a level of exposure not typically contemplated in the class code” and that the company’s growth to service the contract increases the likelihood of workplace injuries.

The policy, effective June 1, 2026, includes a $5,000 per-claim deductible and employer liability limits of $1 million/$1 million/$1 million.

The filing was submitted on June 1 and approved by Hawaii regulators on June 3. SpeediShuttle operates airport shuttle services across multiple Hawaii locations, including Honolulu, Lahaina, Kailua-Kona, and Lihue.
