AmGUARD Insurance Company, part of the Berkshire Hathaway Group, is discontinuing its Garage Program nationwide, including in Nebraska. Filed as an informational notice, the move reflects a strategic decision to exit a niche segment of its Commercial Auto insurance portfolio.
In Nebraska, the program’s presence was minimal, with just 13 active policies remaining as of March 31, 2025. AmGUARD described its market share in the state as “insignificant” and attributed the withdrawal to alignment with the program administrator’s decision to stop underwriting this business segment.
The project, titled “KBK Garage Withdrawal/2025-06-CA-KBK Garage Runoff,” became effective June 30, 2025. Notices of nonrenewal are expected to begin around September 1, 2025, with the last policy in Nebraska anticipated to expire by September 2026. Although submitted as a rate/rule filing, the company confirmed that no rate changes are associated with this withdrawal.
