Plymouth Rock Home Assurance Corporation is updating its tier segmentation for the @Home Homeowners (HO-3) product in Connecticut. The changes, effective October 1, 2025, for new business only, aim to improve pricing precision and customer experience.
Key updates include:
-
Introduction of two new machine learning-derived variables—Non-Catastrophe and Catastrophe Structure Scores—based on gradient boosting models.
-
Revised factors for Roof Score (now based on internal loss data), Financial Responsibility Score (made more granular), and Amount of Insurance Relativity.
-
Replacement of the Environmental Score with the new structure scores.
-
Formatting updates for building and room variables with no factor changes.
The tier score remains a multiplicative product of all tiering variables, modeled using a GLM with a Tweedie distribution. External data sources include CAPE, Quantarium, and PL Rater/EZ Lynx.
