The Massachusetts Division of Insurance has approved Allstate’s request to renew its waiver for the Good Hands Repair Network. This waiver permits Allstate to operate its direct payment auto repair program with fewer than five referral repair shops in certain areas, a deviation from standard state regulations.
The renewal was granted due to Allstate’s low auto insurance market share in Massachusetts—just 1.42%—and limited claim volume, with only 395 repairs completed through the network as of March 2025. Referral shops are currently available in 7 of the state’s 14 counties, and Allstate is adding three shops in Bristol County to expand its presence.
As of now, Middlesex has 5 shops, Norfolk and Worcester each have 4, Essex has 3, Hampden has 2, and Suffolk and Plymouth each have 1. Bristol currently has none, though three shops are in progress. There are no participating shops in Barnstable, Berkshire, Dukes, Franklin, Hampshire, or Nantucket counties.
The waiver remains valid for one year from May 8, 2025. If Allstate wishes to continue operating under the same terms, it must reapply at least 60 days before expiration.
