Jewelers Mutual Updates Cyber Rules in Maryland

Jewelers Mutual has filed a rule amendment in Maryland updating its Cyber Liability program, originally introduced in 2017, to reflect evolving cyber risk scenarios. The filing was submitted on August 27, 2025, with renewal and new business changes set to take effect January 1, 2026.

The amendment revises the Cyber Liability Endorsement to add clarifying language around cyber war, operational system events, and widespread cyber events. The goal is to modernize coverage definitions and reduce ambiguity as cyber incidents increasingly intersect with systemic outages and nation state level activity.

The updated language is provided by program partner TMHCC, which serves as the managing general agent for the program. As part of the update, a separate War and Cyber War Exclusion endorsement will now be mandatory whenever the primary cyber endorsement is attached.

The cyber coverage is offered as an endorsement within Jewelers Mutual’s Businessowners Policy.
