Illinois Rejects Fortegra Shortfall Cover Filing

Lyndon Southern Insurance Company, part of Fortegra and parent Tiptree Inc., submitted a filing in Illinois to introduce new Shortfall Cover Membership Rates designed to protect customers from vehicle depreciation gaps following a total loss.

The proposed program would have provided benefits in the form of a discount from participating dealers toward the purchase of a replacement vehicle.

The Illinois Department of Insurance rejected the filing on February 24, 2026, stating that the submitted rating material is not subject to filing under Department Rule 754.
